Helping Hands
A Jewish Volunteer Initiative
Helping Hands is a program designed to support senior adults and people with disabilities in the Nashville Jewish community. Volunteers can match their interests and skills with the needs of seniors to create a mutually rewarding experience. Services include:
- Friendly visiting
- Telephone reassurance
- Transportation to medical appointments and the grocery store
- Shabbat observance in assisted living facilities
- Holiday celebrations and Jewish programs in assisted living facilities
- Assistance with bill paying, budgeting, and letter writing
Helping Hands volunteers of all ages are an indispensable part of Jewish Family Service. By performing many vital tasks, they supplement and enhance the work of the agency’s professional staff. Volunteers also transmit the warmth and concern of the community to those we serve.
